Mark D. Whitley

President and Chief Executive Officer 

Mark Whitley has over 40 of experience in oil and gas engineering and operations. He has been actively involved in the shale development in the United States over the last 20 years. Mr. Whitley has led teams that were instrumental in developing techniques to economically develop the Barnett Shale in North Texas and the Marcellus Shale in the Appalachian Basin. Most recently, he was Senior Vice President of Range Resources in Fort Worth, Texas from 2005-2012. There he led the development of the Marcellus and put together Range’s entrance into the Barnett Shale. Prior to his time with Range, Mr. Whitley served as Vice President, Operations for Quicksilver Resources where he assembled the team to begin Quicksilver’s work in the Barnett Shale. From 1997 to 2002, Mr. Whitley served as Vice President and General Manager for Mitchell Energy in North Texas leading the team that developed the completion stimulation techniques that unlocked the shale gas potential of the Barnett Shale. He held a similar position with Devon Energy after the acquisition of Mitchell. While at Mitchell, Mr. Whitley served in other operation and engineering roles from 1982 to 1997. Prior to this, he held production and reservoir engineering positions with Shell Oil from 1975 to 1982. Mr. Whitley holds a BSc in Chemical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a M.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Kentucky. He serves as a member of the Board of Directors’ of Rubicon Oilfield International. He has served as an advisor to Warburg Pincus over the last two years.  


JAMES R. LEVY

Managing Director, Warburg Pincus

James R. Levy is based in New York, joined Warburg Pincus in 2006 and focuses on energy investments. Previously, he worked at Kohlberg & Company, a middle-market private equity investment firm, and Wasserstein Perella & Co. In addition to Chisholm Energy, he is a director of Antero Resources, Brigham Resources, EnStorage, Hawkwood Energy, Independence Resources Management, Laredo Petroleum and Terra Energy Partners LLP. Additionally, he is a former director of both Black Swan Energy and Broad Oak Energy and is a member of the Board of Directors of Prep for Prep. Mr. Levy received a B.A. in history from Yale University.


Roger Pinkerton

Stephen C. Hurley

Independent Advisor

Stephen C. Hurley has 38 years of experience in the oil and gas industry.  He serves on the Board of Directors of Brigham Resources, LLC, a privately held oil and gas company.  Mr. Hurley is a former member of the Board of Directors of Brigham Exploration (NASD:BEXP), serving from 2002 to 2011 when the company was sold to Statoil for $4.6B.  He also served on the audit and compensation committees of Brigham.  Mr. Hurley is a former President and board member of Hunt Oil Company, having been associated with Hunt from August 2001 to February 2012.  Prior to joining Hunt, he served as Chief Operating Officer, Executive Vice President and member of the Board of Directors for Chieftain International, Inc. (AMEX:CID) from 1995 to 2001, when Hunt Oil Company bought Chieftain.  Prior to joining Chieftain, Mr. Hurley was Executive Vice President of worldwide Exploration and Production for Murphy Exploration and Production Company (NYSE:MUR).  During his 16-year tenure at Murphy, he held the positions of Senior Geologist, Exploration Manager, Vice President and Executive Vice President.  Mr. Hurley is a former member of the Board of Directors of Magnum Hunter Resources where he served on the Audit, Compensation and Corporate Governance Committees.  From 1975 to 1980, Mr. Hurley was a geologist with Exxon Company USA having been recruited out of college.  Mr. Hurley holds both Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in geology from the University of Arkansas and an advanced degree in business studies from Harvard University.  He is a past President of both the Dallas Petroleum Club and Dallas Wildcatters Committee.


David B. Braddock

Independent Advisor

Mr. Braddock founded and currently serves on the Board of Managers for Broad Oak Energy ll, LLC. He founded EnWater Solutions, LLC, a water management company where he serves on its Board of Managers.  Mr. Braddock also serves on the Board of Directors for the Dallas Wildcat Committee and the LSU Global Alumni Association.

Mr. Braddock’s background includes founding Broad Oak Energy Inc., serving as its Chairman and CEO, (Broad Oak Energy is credited with opening the Midland Basin Wolfcamp Horizontal Play in 2009); 15 years with Parker and Parsley Petroleum and Pioneer Natural Resources; President Gulf South Operators, Inc.; Founder of Braddock Exploration; Doran & Braddock; and Shell Oil. He studied Geology and Business Economics at Louisiana State University earning a B.S. in 1974.
